About 2 years ago, I had a professional color analysis done in NYC with Candy from the House of Colour. I was shocked by results which I witnessed with my very own eyes. Because I have a yellow undertone to my skin (and other criteria) it creates the palette known as Fall, as in Autumn.. So Candy held up black and brown next to my face. There was no question, brown looked better. Then we compared white and off white. To my dismay, white was not a flattering color on me. By the end of my session, I learned that many of my favorite colors were now off limits. I was depressed for a month. Then, I was in denial. Sometime in the next year, I began to embrace my God given color tone, and I haven’t looked back (much)!! Since many of my favorites were nixed, like most blues, hardly any pastels, and no black or white, it became a challenge. There was, however, one color I had never ever worn, and at least it looked perkier than the other Fall tones, like camel, rust, oatmeal, etc. This photo shoot is really the first time in my life I decided to embrace the color red!! It can’t be just any red, it has to be a red with a yellow undertone and without any blue. Not only did I select a great sexy shoulder-less top, but I fortunately found a hat that went so well with the shirt, purely by accident. Don’t you love when that happens? You can look and look and not find anything. But, then one day, when you aren’t looking for anything in particular, you find IT!! What a great blogging outfit!! One of my close friends and I wear the same size, and she has lots of designer-y things. She is so generous and lets me borrow almost anything from her closet. So I a hunting I went, and low and behold there was a pair of red Valentino shoes. I thought to myself, that would be so funny, but nah, too matchy matchy. I took them anyway just for fun. As you can see, I decided to use them in the shoot!! When I got home, I put the outfit together, and I thought not bad. But, I needed the ultimate okay from my photographer, Alex, because she also happens to be a stylist. With Alex’s blessings we began our shoot. There I am deck ed out in red for the first time in my life of 63 years. This fantastic European store called PRIMARK, which is all over Europe, is just coming to the East Coast of the US. It has GREAT stuff, for so inexpensive, it is CRAZY. The white pants I am wearing were 10 pounds when I was in London, which before Brexit turned out to be about $15.00. And they think about all women because they make “High Waist-ed pants, etc. When Primark gets here, it will give H&M a big run for their money because the quality and design is surprisingly good. So that is the explanation of this entire outfit, which I have subsequently worn out. I did get lots of complements, in case you were wondering!! And so it goes. What a fun shoot with the fun hat and in my new color red. It certainly brought out the ham in me and it definitely brightened my day. It won’t make up for the fact that I can no long were navy or royal blue, two of my favorite colors, but it is a close 3rd or 4th. The good news is, I carry my palette around with me like a Bible, and it saves me a ton of money because if the color isn’t in there, I just dont’ buy it. I am now officially a Fall.
